Sand Filters

Filtration equipment is one of the most important components of the pool. It is the main mechanism for cleaning the water and is responsible for remove impurities and keeping the water suitable for bathing.

Sand filters do part of the work to keep a pool clean. The filters are filled with sand, which acts as a natural filtering agent.

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Available with side mount or top mount, to adapt to the characteristics and available space at each pool site.
  • Filter body manufactured of chemical-resistant, weather resistant, inalterable plastic. Designed for outdoor use.
  • Standard equipment with 11/2″, 6+1 multiport valve from Hidro Balear for the 400-mm, 500-mm, and 600-mm diameters or 2″, 6+1 multiport valve for 750-mm diameters, and 2 1/2″, 6+1 multiport valve for 900-mm diameters, with bayonet closure for filter, backwash, rinse, recirculate, waste, close, and winter operations (all inlets and outlets are connected).
  • Transparent lid for easier visual inspection and access to the inside of the filter in side-mount valves.
  • Collector and diffuser for continuous operation.
  • Manual bleeder valve for purging air inside the filter, if necessary.
  • Built-in manual bleeder valve for water of 3/4″ in the sand drain plug of the filter for easier drainage without losing sand.
  • Sand drain: 1 1/2″ for 400-mm, 500-mm, and 600-mm diameters and 2″ for 750-mm diameter.
  • Built-in collector at the bottom to ensure balanced flow and filter backwash.
  • Pressure gauge to control filter backwash.
  • Built-in base in the lower half of the filter, with holes for correct anchoring to the floor.
  • Extra-large 225-mm manhole for easier handling and loading of sand in 900-mm diameters. The upper manhole is 177 mm in the rest of the range.

Following efficiency and resistance tests four models of different diameters are launched in the market to satisfy all user needs.

Made of polyester resin and fiberglass. Excellent fi nish with gel-coat colour RAL 8029. The filter has been designed with higher coefficient of security, to guarantee a perfect operation.  The union of the two bodies of the filter is carried out through a sealed specially reinforced with fiberglass and polyester resin. Large diameter plastic lid. Cap to make easier the sand discharge into the filter. Fitted with 1” collector arms and diffuser made from unplasticized. Interior pipe with tubes of PN-16. Sand purge of 2 1/2”. Fitted with pressure gauge, air purge and manual water drain. Connections to multiport valve with six positions filter, backwash, rinse, recirculate, waste and closed. Innovation: The filter has a security valve to avoid any over-pressure. Maximum working pressure of 2,5 Kg/cm2.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Higher quality water is achieved with their greater filtering capacity. Indexes of turbidity and contaminants of the filtered water are reduced due to their increased retention capacity.
  • The time between washings increases proportionally with the height of the underlayer, and there are fewer interruptions of the filtration, and lower water consumption, because the number of washings needed is decreased and there is less erosion of the filtering material.
  • Greater efficiency of filtration and washing are obtained from the optimal combination of carbon, sand and gravel recommended for underlayers of 1.2 metres or more, lowering the loss of load and increasing the retention capacity.
  • Side opening: For unloading the filtration medium and facilitating access to the interior, can be in different positions.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Higher quality water is achieved with their greater filtering capacity. Indexes of turbidity and contaminants of the filtered water are reduced due to their increased retention capacity.
  • The time between washings increases proportionally with the height of the underlayer, and there are fewer interruptions of the filtration, and lower water consumption, because the number of washings needed is decreased and there is less erosion of the filtering material.
  • Greater efficiency of filtration and washing are obtained from the optimal combination of carbon, sand and gravel recommended for underlayers of 1.2 metres or more, lowering the loss of load and increasing the retention capacity.
  • Side opening: For unloading the filtration medium and facilitating access to the interior, can be in different positions.
  • Collectors: Collection system with arms with 0.3 mm slots made of PP and uniformly distributed for correct circulation of the water.

  • Industrial bobbin wound filters with diameters from 1050 mm to 3000 mm, with the corresponding flange connections for different filtration velocities.
  • Replaces the Atenas model. New top cover system with quick closing system 400 x 500 mm opening.
  • The air relief valve is fitted into the cover to help eliminate air from the filter. 1½” collector arms injected in ABS at the necessary lengths for each of the filters and without joints.
  • Lengths from 90 mm to 525 mm. A reduced head loss is achieved thanks to the greater diameter of the arms.
  • The 90 mm collector tubing is injected in PVC. Water purge and air relief are faster due to a 1″ connection.
  • The distance between the top sand layer and the diffusor head (“freeboard”) has been increased to ensure greatest water distribution during filtration and to prevent sand entering the laterals during the backwashing.
  • In filters with diameters of 2350 mm, 2500 mm and 3000 mm, the top cover is Ø 400 mm, sealed with bolts for high resistance. Available for pressures up to 2.5 and 4 bars.

  • Sight glass: This can be placed in different positions for regular inspection of the level of sand and checking of the expansion of the layer during the washing phase.
  • Side manhole: This can be placed in different positions to unload the filtering medium and facilitate access to the inside.
  • Nozzle plate: False bottom system with nozzle plate for air washing. Water consumption decreases with the provision of air during the washing phase, reducing costs and contributing to preserving water reserves. Areas of stagnant water found in conventional collection arm models are also removed.
  • Collection systems: Collector system of arms with 0.3 mm grooves, uniformly distributed for the water to circulate properly.
  • Maximum operating temperature 50ºC.

Optional manhole access for bobbin wound filters in lateral or top position with nominal diameters of 500 and 600 mm. Designed to comply with DIN standard 19605 and to facilitate access in and out of the filter during maintenance work. Manholes are in fibreglass reinforced polyester in the form of a flange with concave lid and can only be integrated into the filter at the factory or by a specialist. The manhole options are available with the following bobbin wound filter diameters: Manhole DN500* Filters from Ø 1200 mm to Ø 3000 mm. Manhole DN600* Filters from Ø 1800 to Ø 3000.
