Turkish bath in Mallorca: vaulted stone hammam with continuous benches and perimeter LED lighting

Turkish baths

Turkish baths in Mallorca

Steam transforms the way you enjoy bathing

The humid heat, the light and the materials create an experience that goes beyond the shower. A hammam invites you to make bathing time last longer, whether in the privacy of a home or as part of the spa circuit at a hotel or sports centre.

At Hidro Balear we install Inbeca and Effegibi cabins and develop custom-built Turkish baths. From a compact solution with a shower to a fully customised room, we study the installation conditions and coordinate the project, the equipment and the commissioning. Our in-house technical service in Mallorca continues to support you after handover.

The perimeter LED lighting, in white or blue, is what gives it that grotto-like character. It is delivered in modules and sealed on site.

Frequently asked questions

Before choosing your Turkish bath

The difference lies in both temperature and humidity. The Turkish bath offers a steam-filled atmosphere, typically around 40–50 °C. The Finnish sauna uses higher temperatures and predominantly dry heat. They are distinct experiences: the choice depends on your preferences and how you want to use them, not on one being better for everyone.

The cost depends on the dimensions, the type of cabin, the materials, and the equipment. Space preparation must also be considered: insulation, enclosure, electricity, water supply, and drainage. A compact solution with a shower requires different work from a custom-built hammam, so it's advisable to evaluate the complete installation and not just the price of the generator or the cabin.

Our proposal sets out the equipment and the planned work.

It depends on the water hardness and the equipment requirements. Limescale build-up can affect the generator's performance, so it's important to check the water quality before installation. When the manufacturer requires softened water, this treatment must be part of the installation. Automatic cleaning systems do not necessarily replace a water softener or regular maintenance checks.

The prefabricated cabin offers a modular solution with materials and components defined by the manufacturer. A custom-built Turkish bath allows for a specific layout and greater freedom in choosing finishes. Options between the two include the mosaic hammam, which combines prefabricated modules with customisable cladding. The choice depends on the available space, the intended use, and the scope of the work.

The cabin volume is the starting point, but not the only factor. Materials, glazed surfaces, insulation, and usage conditions also play a role. Therefore, the same power output will not necessarily be suitable for two rooms with similar dimensions. The generator must be selected according to the manufacturer's specifications and the specific characteristics of the installation.

The cabin requires adequate insulation and sealing, as well as electrical, water, and drainage connections. The ceiling and interior surfaces must be designed to manage condensation, while ventilation and equipment access are addressed during the design phase. Heights, slopes, and connections are determined by the chosen system; it's not advisable to assume that one model's measurements will work for every build.

The cabin requires cleaning with products compatible with its materials and at a frequency adapted to its use. The generator needs regular checks of the water supply, draining, and limescale build-up, following the manufacturer's recommended schedule. A domestic installation and one for intensive use do not have the same needs.

Our technical service can handle any inspections and repairs that the equipment may require.

Energy consumption depends on the generator's power output, operating time, and cabin conditions. The rated power output does not equate to the consumption for the entire session: some equipment regulates its operation once the set temperature is reached. To estimate costs, you need to consider both heating the cabin up and keeping it at the right conditions while in use, rather than applying a fixed figure to every installation.

There is no single duration that is right for everyone. It's best to follow the equipment's instructions, start with short sessions, and leave the cabin if you feel dizzy, weak, or unwell. It's also important to stay well hydrated and avoid alcohol. During pregnancy, or if you have a medical condition or are undergoing treatment that may affect your heat tolerance, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional beforehand.
